Cessna Wins Verdict Creating False Appearance of Safely Designed Airplanes Chicago, Illinois (November 22, 2005).

Cessna wins verdict in Alaska trial despite NTSB findings that the Cessna Caravan airplane crashed due to icing conditions and that there are currently eight other law suits all with one commonality, faulty design of the airplane for flight into known icing conditions.

Tom Ellis, spokesperson for Nolan Law Group feels “We have the ability and will demonstrate in our cases that this design is wrong and dangerous.” At the present time, Nolan Law Group represents victims and families of victims from five separate accidents where Cessna Caravan planes have crashed (IL, AL, WI, TX and ID) due to icing induced stalls. There is an undeniable pattern of design failure directly contributing to the growing number of people killed and injured in these crashes across the nation and the world. The recommendation of the NTSB for the FAA to take action related to safety of flight into icing conditions of the Cessna Caravan model airplane remains one of its “Most Wanted” items. In December 2004, the NTSB itemized 26 accidents of the Cessna Caravan in the previous 10 years related to icing.

It is expected that Cessna will now market this legal win in Alaska to potential customers as evidence that the Caravan is safely designed for flight into icing conditions. It is a misconception with deadly consequences. Cessna hand-picked the Pen Air case to take to trial due to its unique circumstances, and while Cessna may have dodged the truth momentarily, the truth about the defective design will soon catch up to it. Unfortunately, the truth will most likely come after many more deaths and injuries to passengers and pilots of these planes.

In fact, just last week, a Cessna Caravan crashed in icing conditions near Moscow, killing all eight people on board. A Caravan also went down in icing conditions near Winnipeg, Canada last month killing the lone pilot. Nolan Law Group points out that we are near the beginning of the months when icing most occurs and we can expect further crashes between now and Spring, 2006. While Nolan Law Group believes justice will ultimately be done in these cases. It questions how many more people must die?
